It began in 1996 with Jay Helser, then a young yet sharp drapery hardware installer, noticing that the hardware he was receiving for his customers was seriously lacking in quality. With his entrepreneurial spirit, sales savvy and knowledge of the industry, he knew he could provide a much better service to local designers.
Talking for years about starting a business together, joining him for the journey was his younger brother Mark, a natural engineer and inventor with excellent manufacturing skills. Combining their expertise, they set out to manufacture custom drapery hardware the Helser Way. “Both recognized the critical role strong manufacturing processes, precision metal working, tight tolerances, and extremely high quality would play when combined with over-the-top customer service. This approach has been met with immediate success, initially for clients in the local market, and since expanding to beautify the homes, businesses, resorts and palaces of Helser’s clients throughout the world,” explains the brand.
The duo started out in their garage, but it wasn’t long before they moved into a small 900 sq. foot suite with the two of them handling all of the work. Growing substantially through the years, today the company provides an array of high quality, custom drapery hardware out of its 19,000 square-foot manufacturing facility located in the heart of the Chandler, Arizona business district. “While not ‘in the trenches’ as they once were, both brothers are still involved. The ever gregarious Jay enjoys interacting with customers and going to conventions. Meanwhile, Mark is still hard at work, where he works with suppliers and lends his technical skill to our R&D department,” explains the brand.
Guided by core values of integrity, innovation, devotion and pride, the brand’s dedicated employees advance the brothers’ philosophy of quality and care. “We are a family owned business that strives to uphold the family values of honesty and integrity. Our devotion to our customers ranks among the best and we bend over backward to make sure our customers are satisfied. When it comes to our products, we are always trying to find new and innovative ways to push the hardware industry forward while still staying true to our vision. The quality of our products is second only to our dedication to our customers and is a great source of pride for all involved,” explains the brand.
Craftsmanship has always been at the heart of Helser Brothers, so much so that it named its largest and arguably main hardware line, Artigiani, after it. “Our small but talented crew of fabricators, welders and painters build many products completely from scratch. Every project is seen as a collaboration between the entire team and each step is reviewed for accuracy and quality,” explains the brand.
Working with designers from all over the country with differing styles, Helser Brothers focuses on the quality and longevity of its materials and techniques as well as the resulting end-product. “We are known for our customization, from bowing and bending rods to fit complex room configurations to collaborating with the customer to create the perfect finish for their job,” explains the brand.
By consistently designing, improving and researching new products and finishes, the brand stays up to date with trends as well as makes sure its clients receive the very best results. “We are also one of the few companies that offer free shipping on a majority of our orders and great deals, such as our HBBucks, a rewards system that credits $1 for every $20 spent,” explains the brand.
In addition to working with amazing clients including award-winning designers, Helser Brothers has been featured on HGTV’s Bargain Mansions and has worked with Southern Living on the stunning show home, “The Bramble.” Giving back is also important to the brand, which donates hardware to various charities.
Built on a solid foundation, Helser Brothers’ promotes a strong company culture. “Though we are quite small, especially considering we do business across the US and Canada, we are a diverse group of people of all ages, genders, races, etc. We look to promote within whenever possible and many of us have had the chance to learn new skills that we would not have had at any other company. We also have an excellent track record of placing women and minorities in leadership roles,” explains the brand.
On the horizon is new finials celebrating the brothers and the company’s 25 years in business, as well as an expansion of the brand’s traversing, blinds and motorized lines.
