A San Francisco Bay Area-based design and manufacturing company, David Copello Guild was founded in 1990 by David Copello, a second-generation machinist refined under master furniture maker Hatakeyama of Yokohama. With a passion for industrial arts as the heart of their guild, modern technology is utilized to temper the beauty of the past with world-class quality.
Since its inception, David Copello Guild has been producing its namesake line as well as manufacturing under different designers’ names. All design, manufacturing and finishing are handled in house at one location by harnessing the finest materials, including brass, silver, nickel and bronze. David Copello Guild sources the highest-quality materials in areas where they are naturally found. In the case of their brass, the copper comes from some of the purest mines found in the world located in Brazil and South Africa. No detail is ever too small and quality is never compromised. The inspiration for the brand’s designs comes from facets of nature that are often taken for granted each and every day. Whether it is a radius or an angle, proportions matter. The entire line is designed and manufactured in Burlingame, California. Products boast a brand seal with individual serial number and a “Made in California” mark.
Four lighting collections featuring sconces, pendant lights, pathway light and chandeliers; six drapery hardware collections, a duo of towel racks and fabulous cocktail table comprise David Copello Guild line offerings. Seven top-quality finishes (all non-paint) are available for the majority of the line—Silver, Black Bronze, Light Antique Bronze, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Polished Nickel, Black Nickel and Satin Nickel. Most pieces come in single and striking two-tone combinations. Each piece has an unmistakable style with bold architecture lines and subtle deco highlights—statement makers in any space.
David Copello Guild recently debuted at HEWN showroom in San Francisco. Focusing on the launch of its Basa line of lighting, which serves as a complement to its Base drapery hardware, including several wall sconces and two chandeliers. Copello drew inspiration from the impressive rock formations found in Mammoth California, taking note of the basalt rocks that are formed almost in an architectural way. With this new line, Copello wanted to emulate lighting that was architectural and geometrical, sleek but ultra modern.
The team at David Copello Guild is not afraid to try something new or work with the new materials.
