The brainchild of furniture/interior designer and creative director Jon Wheat, DIR was established in 2016. “DESIGN in RHYTHM takes a collaborative approach to design and project management; maximizing the talent of local interior designers, 3D visualizers, craftsmen, manufacturers, artisans, and retailers in every project,” explains Jon Wheat, Creative Director & Designer.
Combining the highest standards of workmanship with the best possible environmentally balanced materials, DiR’s custom commercial-grade heritage furniture is designed, handcrafted and produced in Los Angeles by seasoned artisans who have spent years perfecting old school techniques and training. “These craftspeople translate their passion for furniture making into modern creations of upholstery, wood and metal work. Our commitment to these local artisans gives an unmistakable quality and detail to our products,” explains Wheat.
With a vintage inspired style that is timeless yet present, “It is our goal to learn from the past and design and make furniture that feels exciting, comfortable and new,” says Wheat. DiR considers sustainability, eco friendly and low impact to the earth as driving forces in everything it does; “Thus providing beautiful products that will last a lifetime and take care of the planet at the same time,” explains Wheat.
Known for products that reflect DiR’s individual client needs, its move into branded product lines started with its premium luxury outdoor Cypress Collection. Inspired by the “playfulness and natural beauty of the rolling California coastline,” the collection comprises a sofa, chair, ottoman, storage coffee table and storage side table. Handcrafted and hand milled with eco friendly, California sustainable woods, the pieces are built to last a lifetime with “ease, comfort and durability.” Six standard colorways in Sunbrella® fabrics are offered; custom fabrics are available upon request.

On the horizon for DiR is a metal outdoor collection and more upholstered branded pieces for the fall of 2021 that will add a burst of glamour to the lines.
